Eckardt Johanning, Medical Director
Dr. Eckardt Johanning, is board certified in

He is in private practice and has been a national and international advisor and consultant on indoor health and safety. He holds an adjunct position at the Columbia University, Dep. Family Medicine, New York, N.Y. and has admitting privileges to the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. He has been the Medical Director, of the Eastern New York Occupational and Environmental Health Center, Albany, N.Y (1993-2000). He received his medical degree from the Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main, Germany and his residency training in Family Practice from the State University of New York, Health Science Center of Brooklyn, New York (1985-1988). He has published numerous papers on the occupational and environmental health research, in particular related to Indoor Air and Whole-body Vibration Health Isses. He is the founder and principle organizer of the International Conferences on Bioaerosols, Fungi, Bacteria, and Mycotoxins (Saratoga Springs, New York 1994, 1996, 1998, and 2000 in Helsinki, Finland (together with Healthy Buildings 2000), 2003, 2011 and in connection with Superstorm Sandy with a special meeting March 2013) which brought together a wide range of leading international researchers and health specialists devoted to public health and prevention. He is the recipient of the Gedek - Mycotoxin Scientific Research Award in 2002 from the German Mycotoxin Research Association, Berlin, Germany. He has been an advisor to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, Atlanta, Ga. (infant death investigation re toxic mold), the Ontario Ministry of Health, Canada; and the World Health Organization (WHO), Geneva, Suisse (re Guideline development on Bioaerosols in Indoor Environments) (2001/2). He has authored numerous peer-reviewed original scientific articles, book chapters and presentations in occupational and environmental medicine.
